Q. What is Parsec?
Have you ever wanted to play a local multiplayer game and can't get all your buddies together in one room? Parsec is the answer! It's a free application, which lets you host games on your PC. Your friends can join with their gamepads remotely through a private link you give them, and you can all play together!

You can sign up for a free Parsec account HERE

You can download Parsec HERE

Q. What is this "Arcade"?
Parsec used to have a feature called "Arcade", which was a way to find other people hosting games. It was removed in 2023, and so this site was created to fill that void. You can host your own games, or join other people's games. This service is completely free, and not affiliated with Parsec in any way.

Joining rooms is done through Parsec, so you'll need to have it installed. You can download Parsec HERE
Q. What is the "Parsec Tray Tool"?
Right now the only way to host a room through Parsec is through their "Computers" tab, and it lacks a lot of features that were present in Parsec Arcade. A host has to manually accept each connection request, and there is no built in way for hosts to communicate with their guests.

The Parsec Tray Tool is a small free application that runs in the background and allows you to host rooms with more control, as well as join available rooms easily. The tool does not actually interface with Parsec, it simply reads logs generated by the Parsec desktop application. It's not affiliated with Parsec in any way.

Parsec Tray Tool is best suited for people who want a simple way to host and join rooms, however, if you require greater control as a host, you will have to use Smash Soda instead.
Q. Can I host a room without the Parsec Tray Tool?
Yes, you can create a room with the form HERE. However, you will need to manually accept each connection request. Also the chat feature is not available without the Parsec Tray Tool.

Also, you will have to set the duration in which your room is available for (as without the Parsec Tray Tool, the service will not be able to detect when you've stopped hosting).
Q. Can I chat with guests in my room as host?
As this service does not interface with Parsec in any way, there is no way to communicate with guests using Parsec's built-in chat. Parsec have not added any way to communicate with guests in your room when you share through the "Computers" tab (as of 07/10/2023).

You can use Smash Soda to communicate with guests in your room...however, there are quite a few steps for using it. Follow the guide here: https://mickeyuk.com/blog/smash-soda-build-guide
Q. Why when I try to join some rooms am I told the room is no longer available by Parsec?
This service lets hosts set a guest limit for the room. When using the Parsec Tray Tool, it will stop auto accepting connection requests when the guest limit is reached. As the tool does not interface with Parsec, the tray tool can't distinguish between a room being actually closed and the guest limit being reached. Perhaps the room is full?

The service routinely cleans up rooms that have not been updated in the last 2 hours. This is to prevent rooms from being left open indefinitely. The Parsec Tray Tool will automatically update the room every 2 hours to prevent it from being closed.
Q. Can I contribute to this project?
This service and the Parsec Tray Tool are free and maintained by me, MickeyUK.

I've made the code for Parsec Tray Tool open source, so that developers can contribute to it by putting in pull requests. You can find the repository HERE.

If you would like to help contribute financially (which of course is very helpful!), you can do so by donating to my Ko-Fi or reach out to me on the Discord server.
